Thresh Support Guide

This guide is for people who are slightly more aggressive when playing as Thresh as a support champion. Some parts are edited to suit myself.

THRESH as a Support

Masteries

Skills Order

Items

Pros and Cons
Pros:

+Grab to catch people
+Strong autoattack damage
+Large amounts of CC
+Fairly low mana costs
+Best stat scaling for support
+Difficult to gank
+Easy for ally jungler to gank
+Yay souls

Cons:

-Significant wind-up on his "Q"
-Easy to dodge "R"
-Fairly long cooldown on spells
-Short range for a ranged champion (475, same as Janna)
-Fairly unreliable CCs

ADC to pair up with
ADs:

[champ/graves.png]/[champ/corki.png]
Both these ADs have extremely high burst. Graves is slightly better due to more burst and overall tankiness, but Corki is very similar.

[champ/draven.png]
Draven has the highest damage early game, making him excellent when paired with Thresh.

[champ/urgot.png]
Urgot will get pushed back early and likely be forced to farm at tower. However, the teamfight presence of Thresh and his constant CCs work well with Thresh. Plus, after reaching level 6, a jungle gank will almost guarantee kills.

Runes
Marks:

Armor
Armor is the best option when playing against a lane that may focus you (support) and try to burst you down.

Attack Damage
AD is the best option when trying to trade with autoattacks.

Magic Penetration
Magic Pen is the best option when trades are done infrequently and you're maximizing the damage from Q's passive.

Seals:

Armor
Armor is pretty much always the best option for seals.

Mana Regen (Flat)
Do take a little bit of mana regen if you find that you run out of mana a lot.

Glyphs:

Magic Resist (Flat/Scaling)
MR is needed against any team that has a decent amount of magic damage. Take flat ones if the opposing lane has magic damage and scaling if they don't.

Mana Regen (Flat)
A splash of mana regen is nice if you need the extra regen.

Quints:

Gold per 10
GP 10 help you scale better into mid/late game.

Health
Against a lane that wants to kill you, extra early HP is nice.

Attack Damage

AD can be good if you wish to trade extensively in lane.

Summoner Spells

Explanation:

Exhaust and Flash are standard support summoner spells and the best ones for Thresh.

Explanation:

Heal and Flash aren't bad choices if the enemy team has Cleanse and not target that relies on burst damage.
